Lady Tigers 0-2 to start season

The WRHS volleyball team opened with a pair of games in their first week of competition. They hosted Lyman on Tuesday, September 3 and then travelled to New Underwood Thursday.  

Tuesday’s action started with a JV win. They took down the Raiders in straight sets, 25-7, 25-16. Morgan Taft had 3 kills in the contest, while Julia LeBoeuf recorded 9 assists and Sidney Bechtold had 5 aces.

Tiger boys first at Prestige Run

Eleven teams and over 100 athletes participated in Monday’s 27th annual White River Prestige Run. The Tigers had a good day, taking first in the varsity boys team competition and a pair of firsts by two runners in the individual races. Volleyball team set for new season

Cross Country opens season in Winner

The Tiger cross country team has begun logging miles, with the official start of practice last week. The first meet is coming August 30 in Winner. Calhoon’s Camp Most Dedicated Campers

Calhoon’s Camp, an annual tradition in White River for the past 29 years, wrapped up with the conclusion of the high school camp July 19. In recent years, camp founders Jim and Linda Calhoon have recognized senior campers who attended camp throughout their careers.

Saddle Bronc Chute-Out continues to grow with added events for youth

It was a beautiful night last Saturday, as the White River rodeo arena hosted the third annual Saddle Bronc Chute-Out, sponsored by the Michael Glynn Memorial Coalition.

Schmidt, Chauncey compete at State HS Rodeo Finals

The State High School Rodeo Finals were held in Belle Fourche over the weekend, June 19-23, 2013. Local competitors included White River High School students Bill Chauncey and Olathe Schmidt. Both competed in two events at State.

Local youth compete in 4-H horse show

A handful of kids took part in the 4-H horse show that was held in White River last week, June 13. Participants included four from Mellette County’s 4-H program (Olathe Schmidt, Bill Chauncey, Trayer Schmidt, and Sloan Benedict), three from Haakon/Jackson, one from Todd County and two from Jones County.
