White River Church of the Nazarene has recently welcomed new pastor Debbie Morgan. “As God birthed a call in my heart for White River Church of the Nazarene,” said Pastor Morgan, “I have chosen to be obedient to His call by taking the position at White River Church of the Nazarene.”
Pastor Morgan and husband W.C. moved to White River from Rodessa, Louisiana, where she had served as senior pastor for more than six years. “I am married to a faithful man of God who has been my greatest encourager and faithful companion for twenty-two years as we joyfully serve God together.”
Pastor Morgan is originally from Florida and has been in the ministry for a number of years. She was a youth leader and pastor for several years before becoming senior pastor at the church in Louisiana. She received her degree in Pastoral Ministries with an emphasis in Christian Counseling from the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colo., and hopes to someday earn a Master’s Degree.
Reaching out with love and compassion is what Pastor Morgan sees as her hope in serving the local church. “Ministering to all people in such a way that they will see Christ lived out in us,” she says is what she hopes for the future. “The old saying, ‘People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care’ rings true in my ministry as I and my husband remain faithful and obedient to the Lord!”
Referencing the scriptures, Pastor Morgan says, “We have accepted this new journey God has blessed us with, our hopes and prayers are that we will walk worthy of the call. The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4 says; ‘I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace’. So as we serve our new church family and this community humbly and faithfully, we continue to trust all of what Scripture teaches us from Ephesians 4:13; ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ -- never forgetting it is all about Jesus Christ, never about me.”
Working with kids has always been a strong passion for Pastor Morgan. Her heart has always been with the children and she hopes that she can have an area set aside for the youth, a place where they can gather together and spend some of their free time. When she has free time of her own, Pastor Morgan enjoys games, but says most of her extra time is spent reading.
Pastor Morgan believes the following quote reflects what she feels as God works in moving one on to a new ministry: “A strong woman has the faith that for the journey she’ll have enough, no matter how uneven the terrain or roads being rocky and rough; A woman of strength knows it’s in the journey she will become strong and the love of God is forever with her, no matter how difficult.”
We welcome Pastor Morgan and W.C. to the community and wish them the best as they embark on the journey God has set before them.
