Keith Leslie Iwan
Keith Leslie Iwan, 74, of Dale, Texas died Monday, March 25, 2014 peacefully in his home with family, after a long battle with Parkinsons.
Keith was born July 27, 1939 at Murdo, SD to Leslie and Fern Iwan. He grew up in White River and attended elementary school and graduated from White River High School in 1958. The fall of 1958 he attended college at Springfield, SD.
January10,1959 he married Sharon Myers of Murdo, SD. Upon finishing school in the spring, he moved back to White River and helped his Dad at the Ford Garage and farming. A daughter, Teresa Lin was born on May 29, 1959.
In 1961, he moved to Stamford with his family and ran the Stamford Store and Gas Station. On January 18, 1962 the twins, Kevin Leslie and Kimberly Lou were born.
In 1965 he moved his family to Sturgis, SD and purchased a tire shop. He divorced in 1968 and later moved to Black Hawk and another move to Rapid Valley where he was employed at Hudson Foods.
On October 31, 1970 he married Yvonne Wolf Porter, whereby extending his family by four. He spent several years in Rapid Valley and after several moves settled in Dale, Texas.
Keith is survived by three siblings, Roland (Jean) Iwan, Ellen (Bill) Valburg, Joell Iwan Kerner, and his children, Teresa (Kevin) Penman, Kevin (Lori) Iwan, Kimberly Covington, his wife, Yvonne, and step-children, Bobby Porter, Rodney Porter, Bill Porter, Sandra Porter Yarbrough, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Fern Iwan and grand-daughter, Holly Porter Wood.
Keith enjoyed his family and grandchildren. His greatest passion was working on race cars. He always offered a helping hand to anyone in need.
A memorial service will be held at the White River Cemetery on Saturday, June 28th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. CDT.
